This paper aims to identify the gap between current and desired states of engineering education. First, the validity of the extracted criteria from global models of engineering education was studied by sending electronic questionnaire to faculty members of engineering schools in Iran. From the perspective of engineering faculty members, all of the criteria specified bear higher importance than the average boundary; therefore, they should be addressed in engineering education programs of Iran. Then, to determine compliance with set criteria, the viewpoints of educators and senior students of engineering schools in Kerman province were studied. Results showed that the educators' viewpoint, the current state of majority of criteria in engineering education is average and lower than average. While, based on the students' viewpoint the current state of all criteria of engineering education is below the average. Also, by comparing the current and desired conditions of engineering education it has been revealed that based on the views of both educators and students, there is a difference between the current state of engineering education and desired state. Therefore, the state of engineering education is less than desired. Finally, it was concluded that all dimensions and criteria of engineering education should be considered in a framework of organized and systematic to promote quality of engineering education system in Iran.

Professional ethics set of regulations and rules which define ethical practice for that profession specifically. Engineering ethics in general is the application of code of ethics and professional standards. Ethical regulations differ only with respect to cultural, social and political conditions and they have different effects. Since, the standardized ethical regulations of engineering are not codified according to the needs of engineers group and secondly, SMSM and IRSCE are the only ethical documents which are recognized among engineers group. So, the codification of professional ethics of engineering is necessary to provide the local condition which should be proportional with cultural, social and political characteristics. In this study, in order to codify regulation, after studying scientific sources, the code of professional ethics of engineering in different countries are considered in the surrounding area. Then, classification and primary form of draft of ethical regulation are suggested by interviewing and consulting with experienced engineers. The draft was designed in the form of questionnaire for validation. The data was analyzed by SPSS after distributing and collecting data among the experienced people. Finally, for presenting the code of professional ethics of engineering in IRAN, the draft is proportionate with local condition of our country according to the results of questionnaire.

For presentation of approaches and models for engineering education, special emphasis has been made on teaching skills and attitudes (engineering practices) in addition to teaching engineering knowledge. Hence, determining the effective teaching methods and educational topics than technical issues were the base of many researches in the present century. Nowadays, training courses for engineering due to irreparable damages to the environment has become very necessary. Engineers’ knowledge on environmental science increase their sense of responsibility towards preventing or reducing the environmental degradation. Although the effectiveness of knowledge on people's sense of responsibility is shown in previous studies, it needs more emphasis for the present engineers. In this study, the effect of teaching environmental science and paying attention to the environmental issues on civil engineering students was examined. 80 students were selected and put in two different groups randomly. They were taught two different methods: studying environmental course and learning environmental issues along with technical course. For collecting data, we used a self-made questioner with reliability coefficient of 0.792. Data were analyzed by use of Pearson correlation coefficient and statistical analysis of paired and decision tree. The results suggested teaching has significant effect on knowledge and observance of environmental issues of students at work, but there's no significant difference between teaching methods and student gender. Decision tree shows considering environmental issues during work by students will increase when their knowledge increases.

3D Spatial ability is an important and vital ability for engineering disciplines in the fields such as designing, modeling, reverse engineering, production and manufacturing and etc. Furthermore, this ability plays an important role even for basic disciplines such as physics, mathematics, chemistry in the fields such as idea, perception of mathematics complex relations, structure of molecule and etc. There are several instances which can be presented that high spatial ability has a major impact on students’ scientific improvements. Recent research has demonstrated some strong links between spatial ability and educational success with different disciplines. Although the spatial ability of each person is unique, it can be improved by correct and classified education. In this paper, the effectiveness of Engineering Drawing course on improvement of students' 3D spatial abilities in Sharif University of Technology is evaluated by tests being taken and it is found good enough evidence that this course improves students' 3D spatial abilities remarkably.

Universities and Higher Education Institutions (HEI) like other organizations evaluate performance of faculty members for effective management of human resources. Faculty members are one of the key factors of higher education systems the most important human capital and the most effectiveness inputs of higher education systems that their quality functions improvement has deep influence on the efficiency and effectiveness enhancement. Therefore evaluating the performance of faculty members in most university systems are very important and its results can use for improving in quality of university system. There are various methods for evaluating the performance of faculty members and among them internal evaluation have many applications in higher education system and evaluation of faculty members. The purpose of this research is to study the status of teachers activities in engineering departments based on the results of internal evaluation reports. In this research meta-analysis method on 50 internal evaluation reports of engineering departments and the performance of faculty members have been studied in three domains of education, research and specialized services. In order to study the current status of the faculty members’ performance 10 criteria and 38 indicators are used. The analysis of data indicates that the quality of the faculties’ performance is far from desirable level and need revision and reformation. At the end, in order to improve the weak points, some recommendations have been presented.

One of the main focuses of Iranian universities and research institutions during the past decade have been conducting research which is counted as one of the main components of development in Iran. Proof of this statement lies in the fact that political leaders and academics have been stressing the rigorous advance and development of science and technology during the past decade. On the other hand, weaknesses and shortcomings in both planning and implementation of targeted scientific research has caused confusion among bodies involved and has faced the country’s prospects of development with serious doubts. The lack of mechanisms for commercialization of research products has created numerous problems for successful implementation of scientific research. In this work, it is suggested that the society put their efforts for the targeted actualization of the road map which is implemented for the recent decade through dialogue and consultation. In this regard, through presentation of documents and statistics and also an analysis of research trends in the past decades, an effort has been made to present a model, albeit rudimentary and incomplete for the present decade. Based on the facts presented in this paper, organization of research depends on the execution of two sets of useful suggestions to be acted upon by universities and the industrial sectors. Providing a mechanism for “commercialization of research achievements” is the essential key for solving current problems and issues.

In the recent decades, amount of researches in the field of industrial engineering grew increasingly which makes hard to find a new area in this field. Indeed it needs extensive searches on the many published papers related to the field. One the goal of review papers is to identify research trends and to introduce them to the researchers. So far, review papers published in the research fields of industrial engineering are focused on a specific area and there are a few articles with wider view to the scope (industrial engineering field). Related works are surveyed some specific journals, hence, in this paper using search through resources and scientific databases, research trends in the Industrial Engineering in the recent years (2012 to 2015 January) are determined. For better classification of the researches, two general classes of scientific researchers are considered. Finally, based on this classification, research trends in Industrial engineering are surveyed and analyzed.
