Engineering Education in Iran; A Comparative Study
A comparative study of education of engineering in Iran and some developed countries reveals a fundamental difference in the philosophy of education. In Iran learning is a merit, while today education is an investment. This fundamental difference has been reflected in methods and contents of the education disciplines. Different aspects of engineering education such as the length of the courses, contents of each course, optional and compulsory courses, grading system, graduate levels, mathematics and the basic physics, research-education sections and the role of universities in creating wealth is discussed in this comparative study. In this paper this comparison is focused on education engineering mechanics in Iranian universities and some elite universities in the UK, Germany and USA. The paper suggests new concepts in education such as student-centered teaching, problem-based learning, and technology- enriched-active learning.

Increasing the Quality of Instruction in Engineering Courses Through Two Development of the Fourth Element of Teaching-Learning System
In traditional instruction system, the three elements including instructor, student, and curriculum are foundations which make the learning a process of interaction of both teachers and students’ during physical presence. This form of education is not adequate at the current condition of technology. Because an efficient system of education must include all available activities, such as distance learning, virtual learning, and other technological potentials. Nowadays the rapid growth of information technology and communication has provided new opportunities for modern education. For developing and promoting the education system, it is necessary to include the forth element in education system. This will play an important role besides other elements of traditional education system compromised of teacher, student and curriculum. Based on the research carried in this article, by taking into consideration the differences in level of teaching quality and educational services, in the accredited colleges of engineering in Iran and the world, the procedure of upgrading the fourth element of engineering courses teaching-learning system through utilization of information and communication technologies have been investigated and suggested.

Necessity of Management Course for Chemical Engineering
Chemical engineering is one of the most versatile and largest engineering fields. Chemical engineering graduates have different status based on their area of study and responsibility in society. Since a low level coordinator is recognized as a manager, chemical engineers could benefit from management science for all control processes, leadership, organizing projects, decision making, creativity and innovation, etc. Therefore this paper emphasizes projects necessity of management course for chemical engineering as an obligatory course, which is a basic need for update management.

Revision of BSc Mining Engineering Exploration Program
Mining engineering education in Iran started with the establishment of University of Tehran in 1934. After the revolution of 1979, the planning of higher education programs was centralized and the present BSc program of mining engineering was introduced in 1997. This paper presents some deficiencies of the existing program and introduces a revised version, which is designed based on the national needs and international trends. In this program, a new "BSc exploration engineering" is introduced. In the fourth year of this program, students can choose one of the clusters of courses in mining exploration, petroleum exploration, groundwater exploration or geo-hazards investigation.

Decision Making Support System (DSS) for Measurement and System Dynamic (SD) for Analysis of Knowledge Worker Productivity
In this paper, we present a DSS and a SD tools. At first it measures knowledge worker productivity; secondly, it defines causes of knowledge worker productivity in exist status; thirdly, it presents solutions for promotion of knowledge worker productivity from exist status to optimum status and finally; it analyzes by SD tools and simulates in Vensim Software. These steps establish the three-phase algorithm and this algorithm has been tested in Alupan Company.

Landscape Architecture Education: Requisite Knowledge and Skills
There is an increasing interest in establishing new degrees of landscape architecture in all over the world. Along with the growth in the number of universities which offer landscape architecture program, the qualitative review of program contents has been increasing. Requisite knowledge & skills for landscape architects have an essential role in reviewing of educational program. This paper intends to analyze the training & educational text about landscape architecture, experiments of universities and employment demands. The outcome of these studies is a knowledge-based framework for landscape architects. In this framework the most important knowledge and requisite skills which landscape architects need them, are represent. Findings of this paper explain that we can shape the above framework according to the procedural and natural dimensions of landscape architecture. Landscape architecture encompasses the holistic humanistic-environmental approach of landscape architecture as a natural dimension and economic, social, technological, administrative and communicational items as procedural dimensions. This framework could be implemented in Iranian universities.

Evaluation and Presentation of a New Method to Teach "Conservation and Adaption of Historic-Cultural Places" Course In Bachelordegree Program
As an interdisciplinary profession, conservation of historic places has a vast connection with other branches of knowledge such as engineering, art and social science. The education of this profession, for the same reason, is a complicated and multidimensional issue. The rich and numerous cultural and historical heritage of Iran indicate the significance of establishing appropriate standards and educational programs for the promotion of this profession. Because of the main body of these programs are focusing on the higher education courses in universities, and due to inappropriate syllabus and quality of such courses, this article aims to evaluate some main part of the bachelor degree program and also present a revised method of teaching in this field.

Automatic Lamps A Light Over the Ancient Iranian Knowledge
From the one hundred inventions and innovations presented in the book “Al-Hiyal", lamps have unique and No comparable designs in their mechanisms in comparison with other samples. “Al-Hiyal" is the title of a book which has been written in the 10th century A.C. by Ahmad Ibn Musa. He was one of the three sons of Musa ibn Shaakir Khorassani who are known as "¬Banu Musa" by the historians and scientists. They are the most famous and out standing Iranian scientists of the Islamic era. All of his innovations and inventions have been presented in the hand written versions of the book "Al-Hyial". Redesign, remanufacture and testing the applied mechanisms of these lamps are parts of a research project undertaken by the Mechanical Engineering Research Center of the Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology. In this article all the mechanisms applied in these lamps from design view point have been appraised and discussed. However during the course of this project “a progressing design process” in innovative thinking of Ahmad ibn Musa has been observed. This achievement is the most important outcome of this project which ought to be taught in engineering courses. However, all the lamps were redesigned and manufactured according to the details presented in the book. Tests results of the manufactured samples showed perfect agreement between the outcomes of the tests and the performance mentioned in the book.
