Findings: The causal conditions include the philosophical and identity crisis in engineering education, the gap between university, industry, and the labor market (including weaknesses in graduates' hard and soft skills, the dominance of theoretical instruction, and the lack of industrial experience among faculty members), as well as the inefficiency of educational and assessment methods. Contextual factors consist of weaknesses in educational management and governance, deficiencies in the public education system, improper culture of academic guidance, and the dominance of grade-oriented approaches. Intervening factors include challenges within the educational system (budget shortages, outdated equipment, and inflexibility), socio-cultural challenges (credentialism), and faculty-related challenges (inappropriate teaching methods, weak reward systems, and high workload). The identified strategies include fundamental revision of governance policies, linking university with industry and the labor market, transformation of the teaching-learning system, transformation of content, assessment, and infrastructure, as well as reforming the talent identification system and social culture-building. The consequences of implementing these strategies will lead to increased employability, the training of problem-solving engineers, and the development of well-rounded (multi-faceted) human beings.
