One of the basic prerequisites for any effective planning, as well as revision of higher education programs is the access to the relevant information about the past and present status of the relevant programs. Present article discusses the process of designing and developing a database for mining, metallurgy and material engineering education in Iran. This database covers different aspects, such as: details of approved degree programs, information about universities and other higher education institutes offering these courses, as well as statistics on their academic members and graduates. This database is in operation on their academic members and graduates. This database in operation in Ministry of Industry and Mines of Iran, since mid-2001.
