Purpose: The aim of this research was to design a model for developing an industry-based online community of inquiry model among undergraduate engineering students in the higher education.
Matrials and Methods: The qualitative research design and its research method were theory-building metasynthesis. After presenting the research question, in the second and third steps, reliable Latin and Persian Data sources were determined. By searching for related keywords, finally, 32 relevant articles were selected.
Findings: By analyzing the data, 48 open codes were first extracted and then classified in the framework of antecedents (such as dynamic learning environment and multifaceted educational materials), processes (such as active interactions between learners and textual and audio feedback between professors and students in the exploration circle), and consequences of the development of industry-based community of inquiry (such as transforming students into lifelong learners and developing practical skills of engineering students.
Discussion and Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, professors, aware of the antecedents, processes, and consequences of the development of the exploration circle, will apply new approaches to teaching and will strive to train capable graduates with a strong sense of self-efficacy, familiar with industry issues, and possessing logical decision-making, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
